Abstract

Thermochemistry is an aspect of thermodynamics that study the heat flow that accompanies chemical reactions. Heat can flow from a system into the surrounding or from the surrounding into the system. The part of the universe on which attention is directed is called the system while the remaining part of the universe at that instance is the surrounding. The heat flow is designated with q. q is positive if heat flows from the surrounding into the system. q is negative when heat flows out of the system into the surrounding.
